Technical and usage information
- IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referrer URL, and timestamps of your visits.
- Information automatically logged by our hosting and content-delivery providers.
Sensitive information. We do not request Social Security numbers, financial-account numbers, or health information through the Site. If you choose to send such information to us by email, phone, or other means, we will treat it consistently with this Policy and applicable law, but we ask you not to send it unless we specifically request it for a legitimate insurance purpose.
4. Sources of information
We receive information from the following sources:
- From you — when you complete the quote form, send us a message, call us, or upload a document.
- Consumer reporting agencies — such as LexisNexis Risk Solutions, TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian, which provide credit-based insurance scores and identity verification.
- State motor vehicle records (MVR) — for driving history relevant to underwriting.
- Loss-history databases — such as the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) and A-PLUS, which contain auto insurance claims history.
- Prior insurance carriers — to verify continuous coverage and prior limits.
- Carriers and managing general agents (MGAs) — that quote your application.
5. How we use your information
We use your information only for legitimate insurance-related purposes, including to:
- Prepare your auto insurance quote and identify carriers and programs likely to fit your needs.
- Submit your application to one or more insurance carriers for underwriting and policy issuance.
- Communicate with you about your quote, application, policy, or service-related matters (by email, phone, or text — see our Terms of Service for communications consent).
- Verify your identity and prevent fraud.
- Comply with federal and state insurance laws, including recordkeeping obligations under Texas (Tex. Ins. Code ch. 38 and ch. 4001).
- Respond to regulator inquiries, subpoenas, or other lawful requests.
- Improve and secure the Site and our internal operations.
We will not use your information for purposes materially different from those described in this Policy without first providing notice and, where required, obtaining your consent.
6. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to deliver the Services or as required by law, including with:
- Insurance carriers, MGAs, and reinsurers we work with to quote, bind, and service your coverage.
- Consumer reporting agencies to obtain credit, MVR, and loss-history reports (see Section 8 below).
- Service providers and vendors who help us operate the Site and process applications, including Google LLC (Google Apps Script, Google Sheets, and Google Drive, which we use to receive, log, and store form submissions and signed documents) and our website host. These providers are contractually limited to using your information only to perform services for us.
- Professional advisors such as attorneys, accountants, auditors, and compliance consultants, under duties of confidentiality.
- Government and regulatory authorities, including the Texas Department of Insurance, in response to lawful requests, examinations, or complaints.
- Law enforcement, where required by valid legal process or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Successors in interest, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business, under appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not share your nonpublic personal financial information with non-affiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes.
7. GLBA / financial privacy notice
As a licensed insurance agency, we are a "financial institution" under the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ("GLBA") and we follow the GLBA Privacy Rule (16 CFR Part 313) and corresponding state insurance regulations.
Categories of nonpublic personal information ("NPI") we collect:
- Information from you on applications and other forms (name, address, DOB, marital status, occupation, driver license, etc.).
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, and others (coverage selections, payment, and policy history).
- Information from consumer reporting agencies (credit-based insurance score, MVR, loss history).
Categories of parties to whom we may disclose NPI:
- Affiliates (none currently; if this changes we will update this Policy).
- Non-affiliated third parties as permitted by law, such as insurance carriers issuing or servicing your policy, service providers, and regulators.
Opt-out. We do not share NPI with non-affiliated third parties for those parties' own marketing purposes, so no opt-out is required for that purpose. To exercise any other opt-out right available under Texas Insurance Code Chapter 601, contact us using Section 18 below.
8. FCRA notice (credit, MVR, and loss-history reports)
By submitting our quote form and confirming the credit authorization, you authorize Ask-Tiffany and the carriers we submit your application to to obtain consumer reports about you for insurance-underwriting and rating purposes (a "permissible purpose" under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681b(a)(3)(C)). These reports may include:
- Credit-based insurance scores from a consumer reporting agency.
- Motor vehicle records (MVR) from your state DMV.
- Auto insurance loss-history reports (such as CLUE or A-PLUS).
Adverse action. If a carrier takes adverse action (including charging a higher premium, declining to offer coverage, or non-renewing) based in whole or in part on information from a consumer report, the carrier is required to send you a notice identifying the consumer reporting agency that supplied the report and informing you of your right to obtain a free copy of the report and to dispute information you believe is inaccurate.
You may withdraw your credit-pull authorization at any time by contacting us using Section 18 below; however, doing so may affect our ability to obtain or maintain a quote on your behalf.
9. Cookies and analytics
The Site currently uses only essential technologies needed to load the page (such as our content-delivery
network and Tailwind CSS framework, which may log basic request data). We do not use advertising cookies,
cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party analytics on the Site at this time. Your browser
stores a small localStorage value to remember your selected language (English or Traditional
Chinese). You can clear this at any time through your browser's site-data controls.
If we add analytics or advertising technology in the future, we will update this Policy and provide any notices or choices required by law.
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:
- Transport Layer Security (TLS / HTTPS) for all data transmitted between your browser and our Site and back-end.
- Access controls limiting who can view your information to the licensed agent and authorized staff who need it.
- Storage of form submissions and uploaded documents within access-restricted Google Workspace tenants.
- Routine review of our information-security practices.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by Texas Business and Commerce Code §521.053 and any other applicable law.
11. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the Services and to comply with our legal, regulatory, accounting, and reporting obligations. Insurance recordkeeping rules generally require us to retain agency records — including applications, quotes, signed authorizations, and related correspondence — for at least five (5) years from the policy expiration or termination (and longer where state law or a carrier contract requires). Backups and routine archival copies may be retained for additional limited periods. When the retention period ends, we will securely delete or de-identify the information.
12. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 18 and are not intended for individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us using Section 18 below and we will delete it.
13. Texas resident rights
If you are a Texas resident, Texas Insurance Code Chapter 601 gives you the following rights with respect to personal information that we collect about you in connection with an insurance transaction:
- Notice. The right to receive this notice describing our information practices.
- Access. The right to request and obtain a copy of recorded personal information about you in our files, within a reasonable time after your written request.
- Correction. The right to request correction, amendment, or deletion of recorded personal information you believe is inaccurate, and the right to a written explanation of any refusal to do so.
- Reasons for adverse underwriting decision. The right to receive the specific reason(s) for any adverse underwriting decision and the specific items of information that supported that decision.
- Complaint. The right to file a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance (see Section 18).
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the contact address in Section 18 and describe the information at issue and the action you would like us to take. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no consistent industry standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can still limit tracking using browser settings and extensions.
15. Third-party links
The Site may link to insurance carrier portals, regulator websites, or other third-party resources. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review the privacy notices on any site you visit.
16. International visitors
The Site is operated from and intended for users in the United States, specifically Texas. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law. Your information will be processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those of your country.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as a banner on the Site or an email). Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
